This universal 3x zoom covers the range from 35mm wide angle to 105mm medium telephoto and thus replaces three or four separate fixed focal length lenses. The extra 35mm this lens has on the tele-side when compared to a 35-70 2x zoom makes this lens better suited for portraits because it allows a bigger distance. The one-touch design allows simultaneous zooming and focusing which can be essential when fast action is required. A special close focus mechanism makes this lens even more versatile by allowing focusing at 0.31m in the entire zoom range.
